A key Hawaii industry association has made its endorsements for United States Senate, which is considered to be a key race this year. Since most Senators tend to be reelected for decades, if they choose to stay in the seat, whoever is elected could represent Hawaii for the next generation.
The Hawaii Lodging & Tourism Association has endorsed all three of the major candidates running in the Primary: former U. S. Congressman Ed Case and current U. S. Congresswoman Mazie Hirono, both running in the Democratic Primary, and former Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle, running in the Republican Primary.
The group issued a statement saying based on the candidates’ records, their written responses sent to the organization, and their answers during a forum held by the organization, the HLTA feels any of the three candidates would be supportive of the visitor industry.
Lingle, the likely winner of the Republican Primary, will face either Hirono or Case in the November 6 General Election.
