Aloha Performing Arts Company will hold open auditions for volunteer actors for its December production of “A Christmas Carol” on Sunday October 14 at 5:30 p.m. and Monday October 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu. Director Jerry Tracy is looking for people of all ages for the large cast.
Those auditioning should arrive on time on one of the evenings and expect to stay approximately 2 hours. An invitational callback audition may be held Tuesday October 16 if needed.
Auditions will consist primarily of readings from the script, which is a new adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic by Susie Burke, who adapted and directed Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” for APAC last season. The script is available on APAC’s website, alohatheater.com. Hard copies are also available for onsite perusal by arrangement with the APAC office at 322-9924.
All roles are available, including Charles Dickens, who appears as a narrating character in Ms. Burke’s new adaptation. Other characters include Ebenezer Scrooge, Will Fern, The Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Jacob Marley, The Cratchit Family (Bob, Molly, Martha, Belinda, Tiny Tim, other brothers), Fredericka, Scrooge’s niece, Mr. and Mrs. Fezziwig, Dick Wilkins, Young Scrooge, Isabelle, Isabelle’s husband, Rag Dealer, Laundress, and a chorus which will sing carols as a group and play various characters including street children, boot blacks, fruit sellers, pickpockets, urchins, errand runners, orphans, and townspeople British accents and singing ability are plusses, but will not be required of all cast members.

“A Christmas Carol” will be produced at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu December 7 through 22, with Friday and Saturday shows at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. Rehearsals will begin October 22, and will generally be conducted Monday through Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
