The Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament tees off Monday, May 21, at The Club at Hokulia. They are inviting members, community members, and visitors to sign up now for a chance to raise funds for a worthy organization and play on a terrific and exclusive golf course.
The Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce is a Hawaii Island based nonprofit organization to support and promote local businesses. They’re raising funds to help support their mission and vision, and provide support, information, and workshops for their members.
The Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce has more than 500 members from Hawi through Waimea down through South Kona. Some of the programs they offer include an annual Business Outlook Forum, bringing in economists to talk about the state of the local and state economies; a Labor Law Seminar; and a Building and Design Expo to help showcase local businesses and give residents an opportunity to learn more about how local businesses can help. They also advocate for Chamber members locally, at the State Legislature, and nationally as needed.
The tournament is at the prestigious Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course south of Keauhou, makai of Kealakekua, which boasts ocean views from almost every hole. Plans for this year’s tournament include wonderful prizes, a Hole-In-One challenge courtesy of Big Island Honda, Closest to the Pin on the par three’s, and Men’s and Ladies Long Drive contests.
Play begins at 10 a.m. with a two-person, select-drive, best-ball format. A post-golf awards ceremony offers heavy pupus at The Pavilion at Hokuli’a hosted by Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa.
Entry fee for the Chamber fundraiser is $250 per person. Only 120 players will be able to take part in this tournament on a course on which most never get to play. Register online at www.kona-kohala.com or phone 329-1758.
