Kawika Crowley, U. S. Congressional Candidate on the Republican ticket for the 2nd District, will be holding his first ever press conference at 4:30 on Wednesday, August 29, on the steps of the State Building in downtown Hilo.
He will be announcing the kick-off of his “Walking the Islands” campaign. He will begin in his hometown of Hilo, and then proceed to various points across the Big Island in a four day sign waving marathon.
At the press conference he will will highlight what he sees as the differences in ideology/views between him and his opponent, Tulsi Gabbard, whom pundits have predicted to win in a landslide over Crowley.
However, undaunted, Crowley states: “Once the neighbor island folks see the stark differences between us on various issues, from Rail, Same Sex Marriage, to Obama Care I have no doubt that I will have a good shot at an upset win”
Crowley lives in Kaneohe, and has for 11 years, but spent 40 years in Hilo. He was partly raised in Japan, spending 9 years there as a child. He speaks fluent Japanese. His bio says he’s a painter and handyman, advertising consultant, and musician. He’s recorded 27 songs and he also wrote and produced jingles for businesses on the mainland and in Hawaii. He says his family members mostly now reside in Las Vegas. Crowley also was a lobbying for bar owners, seeking exemptions to the ban on smoking, and is a member of the Hawaii Tea Party.
