The National Weather Service issued a high surf Wednersday for the east shores of Hawaii Island.  Surf was 5 to 8 feet Wednesday night, and bigger waves are expected through Friday.

Hurricane Daniel has been downgraded and is now a low-pressure system, but is still bringing the higher surf to the isand, and the Weather Service says it may bring higher surf to other islands as well.  Daniel should pass around 250 to 300 miles south of South Point on Friday, and bring 1 to 3 inches of rain to parts of the island.

Hurricane Emilia is out there, too, following in Daniel’s path.  The storm was upgraded from a category 2 to a category 3 storm Wednesday, but should weaken as it moves into cooler water.  It currently has winds around 115 miles per hour, and is around 810 miles south-southwest of Baja California.
