Henry Street in Kona Remains Closed for Through Traffic

Henry Street in Kona, the street where WalMart and Safeway are, is closed just above Safeway and is slated to remain closed until April 19.

The County is working on Henry Street at the Palani Road intersection.  Palani Road is now open in both directions between Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway and Henry Street, and above.

Those needing to get to businesses on Henry Street must enter Henry Street from Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway.  Those wishing to get to Palani Road from Kailua-Kona must do so from Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway.

This is all part of the building of the Ane Keohokalole Highway, also known as the “mid level road,” which will extend from the intersection of Henry Street at Palani Road all the way to Kealakehe Parkway and on to Hina Lani and ultimately to Ka’iminani in Palisades.
