Hilo Drags Crash Sends One to Hospital

Hawaii Fire Department was called to the Hilo Drag Strip Sunday afternoon after a Hawaii Island man was injured in a one-car crash.  The driver of a race car lost control of his car and crashed into a judging tent.

The driver suffered a 2 inch laceration to the top of his head and had multiple abrasions over his entire body and complained of neck pain, according to Hawaii County Fire Department personnel.   When they arrived, bystanders were caring for the man

The injured man was transported to Hilo Medical Center.

No other serious injuries were reported. The crash occurred just after 2 p.m. Chopper 1 was on the scene but the injured man was transported to Hilo Medical Center in an ambulance.
