“The Hilo Orchid Society will stage the biggest and best orchid show and sale in the state of Hawai`i this coming August 3-5,” show chairperson Sandra Song announced. This year will mark the society’s 60th anniversary. The theme, Islands of Orchids, will be expressed throughout the lush displays of orchids. The show will take place at Edith Kanaka’ole Stadium at 350 Kalanikoa Street in Hilo.
The Orchid Show begins with a preview party this Thursday evening, August 2. The Hilo Orchid Society and Ku`ikahi Mediation Center will jointly present the gala Preview Party Thursday from 6 – 9 pm at Edith Kanaka’ole. It’s a chance to see the orchids in a pristine state and to buy orchids early. Funds raised will go to the Hilo Orchid Society’s university student scholarships and to Ku`ikahi Mediation Center to carry out their excellent work.
Delectable food will be available at various serving stations compliments of AJ & Sons Catering, and Island Naturals. Beverages will be supplied by Kona Brewing Company.
Throughout the evening models will circulate wearing fashion items designed by Iris Gil.

August 4, Saturday 9 am-5 pm
August 5, Sunday 10 am-2 pm
Tickets may be purchased from any member of the Hilo Orchid Society for $3 prior to the show and for $5 at the door; children 12 and under will be admitted free.
Last year 4200 people attended the Hilo Orchid Show and Sale making it the second largest event on the island, surpassed only by Merrie Monarch. People attended from 23 states and seven other countries. Over 2500 attended from Hawai`i Island.
