Sports Authority will celebrate its official Grand Opening in Prince Kuhio Plaza located at 111 E. Puainako Street on Saturday, August 11th beginning at 8 a.am.. There will be an appearance by former Pro Lineman and University of Hawaii player Jesse Sapolu at 1pm.
The 50,000-square-foot facility is open now, with little fanfare. The corporate office says the store features a new format with simplified layouts, brighter lighting, and bold colors. They have special shops for Nike and Under Armour products, a new fitness equipment area, expanded footwear department, and a checkout area they say is new and improved. The store carries a range of sporting equipment.
On the Grand Opening day, the first 250 customers will receive “Mystery Bucks” that range from $5 to $500 in value, plus they’ll have hourly $100 cash drawings. They’ll also have a drawing for a $500 shopping spree at Sports Authority.
The hours at the new Sports Authority are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Sundays, 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.
