Hilo’s Christmas Parade Saturday night was a rousing success, with people lining the parade route through downtown to enjoy the event. In a nod to the season, the weather in Hilo was perfect for a parade, with no snow, rain, or hail—it was dry.
This year’s parade had 31 entries, including the Hilo Little League World Champions. There were also dogs, the Mayor, gymnasts, and Miss Aloha Hula and Miss Kona Coffee. Entries were festive and lighted, and most entries distributed candy to those watching—keiki and adults.
The last entry in the parade, as is traditional, was Santa Claus, in a fitting finale to Hawaii Island’s first parade of the season.
