Holualoa Fire Destroys Two-Story Home

As reported on Big Island News Center and LAVA 105.3 f.m. Wednesday morning, a raging fire destroyed a home in Holualoa.  The two-story wooden dwelling was between Holualoa School and the junction of Hualalai Road and Mamalahoa Highway, mauka up a private road.  Three adults lived in the home but no injuries were reported.

The alarm came at 5:43 a.m.  Even then, thick black smoke and flames were visible for miles.  When the fire department arrived, they found the house fully engulfed in flames.  The house was completely destroyed.

Firefighters brought the fire under control by 6:26 a.m. and extinguished it at 7 a.m.  A total of 13 firefighters helped put the fire out.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation, and no damage estimate was available.
