Hawaii Police Department charged a Honaunau man, Meta Christopher Coonen, 21, with driving under the influence of an intoxicant after he crashed into a power pole at the intersection of Kaiwi Street and Luhia Street in Kona’s Old Industrial Area Thursday morning around 2:17 a.m. Power was interrupted to more than 1400 customers in the Old Industrial, Kona Commons,and Makalapua area, and along some parts of Ali’i Drive. HELCO says power was restored during the night with all power restored by 8 a.m.
