Kailua-Kona Christmas Parade Chair Barbara Kossow has announced the December 10 parade has sold out. The deadline was December 1, unless the parade filled earlier–and it has. Kossow said she had a last minute influx of applications, and thinks the total entries in the parade will be close to 70. Although that’s slightly more than the target number of 65, Kossow said all the last entries came in the same day so all will be part of the event.
The parade entries include a new barbershop, a hula halau, West Hawaii Dance Academy, some dogs, and possibly a couple of horses. Advocats, Aloha Theater, a belly dancer, and the Gold Sistahs will be in the parade.
The parade is Saturday, December 10, starting at 5 p.m. at Kona’s Gym and Pool, going along Kuakini Highway, down Palani Road, along Ali’i Drive, and ending at Walua Road just past Coconut Grove Marketplace. Announcers will be at West Hawaii Today (with Santa there from 4:30 until 5), Remixx Bistro on Kuakini across from Firestone, King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel, Boston Basil’s next to Emma Square (with entertainment before the parade at Emma’s Square). Magician Arneleo the Great will present his magic starting just after 4:30 in front of Kimo’s at Uncle Billy’s Hotel, and then there will be parade announcing from that location. There will also be announcers at Waterfront Row, Lava Java, and Humpy’s at Coconut Grove.
The parade is possible thanks to many generous sponsors.
