Kilauea Drama & Entertainment Network (KDEN) will hold its annual fundraiser, “KDEN vs Reality” on Saturday, September 22 at the Hilo Woman’s Club.   “KDEN vs Reality” will feature a silent auction, a live auction, and lots of fun entertainment.

Opening the evening’s entertainment will be Zenith featuring the talents of Esther Zamora, Loren Antolik and Gonzo Grogg, followed by talented performers who have appeared in KDEN’s production of “Cinderella” this past summer led by Pedro Ka’awaloa. Big Island Weekly Editor and local performer Yisa Var will be the evening’s hostess and local actor/director, Clay Callaway will act as auctioneer for the live auction.

The auctions features artwork, jewelry, a Body Glove Cruise, dinner at the Kilauea Lodge, services, Brad Lewis photography, and much more.

In its 11th year, KDEN offers a Living History program running at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, a drama program with the Volcano School of Arts and Sciences Middle School, a winter production, and our popular summer musical. KDEN also sponsors the Volcano Festival Chorus. This fundraiser helps to support these programs. “In past years we called the event KDEN Faces Reality, but with the economy the way it is, we are fighting with reality by trying to keep the doors open” says KDEN Board President Bill Chikasuye.

When the doors open at 6:00 pm, the silent auction begins.  Tickets are $35 for singles and $50 for couples, Tickets are available at the door, and include bid paddle, heavy pupus and drinks (including a wine-tasting).  Donations are still being accepted. For more information, to donate or to make reservations call 982-7344.  Join us for an evening of food and fun and help support your local community theater!
