The Kona Japanese Civic Association will host its second annual golf tournament this Sunday, August 5. The event will be at Kona Country Club’s mountain course, with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m.
The registration fee is $100 per person, and golfers may also purchase mulligans for $10.
Funds raised will help promote and celebrate the Japanese culture on Hawaii Island. The Kona Japanese Civic Association used proceeds from last year’s tournament to send two students to Shizuoka, Japan on an educational Environmental Cultural Exchange. In April the group sponsored Kodomo No Hi (Children’s Day) at Yano Hall with a fun day of games and activities including rock climbing, a bouncing castle, make and take crafts accompanied by ice shave and yummy food.
In addition, KJCA provided refreshments and sponsorship honoring our Congressional Gold Medal Nisei Heroes of
WWll for the U.S. Army’s 100th Infantry Battalion, the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, and the Military Intelligence
Service.
Register for Sunday’s golf tournament by calling Kona Country Club, 324-2722. Direct any questions about Kona Japanese Civic Association or the tournament to Walter Kunitake, 938-3624.
