Mobi PCS has enhanced its wireless network on the Big Island with the activation of a new cell site in Kurtistown. Mobi’s statewide network provides service to both the company¹s CDMA voice and Hele Wireless Broadband customers.
The new Kurtistown site provides enhanced in-building and street coverage between Pa’ahana Street and Kukui Camp Road, as well as sections of Hawaiian Acres and Orchidland Estates.
The network enhancements allow Mobi customers to use their unlimited voice and data services with fewer dropped calls and clearer in-building and outdoor reception. The local carrier is committed to aggressively adding cell sites and improving hardware to optimize its statewide network. These network enhancements will augment system capacity and expand coverage to ensure a continued high rate of customer satisfaction.
Mobi’s CDMA voice network handles an average of 1.5 million calls per day, with dropped-call rates of less than 0.8 percent on Oahu well below the industry standard and the only dropped-call rate published by any Hawaii carrier.
