Hawai’i  Fire Department’s Waikoloa Station responded to a motorcycle crash on Mamalahoa Highway, Highway 190, just before 10 p.m. Friday night.  The crash was near the 17 Mile Marker on the Waimea side of Pu’uanahulu.

Fire/rescue personnel found a 41-year-old man on the road unresponsive.  He had been driving the motorcycle.  Witnesses said he lost control of his bike and struck an oncoming car.  The motorcycle rider was transported to North Hawaii Hospital in critical condition and later evacuated to Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu.

Battalion Chief Medeiros said Saturday he did not know if the biker was wearing a helmet.  The people in the other car did not receive any treatment for injuries.
