Hawaii Police Department issued an alert just after midnight Wednesday morning that Ryan Jeffries-Hamar, a 31-year-old male, has escaped from Hale Nani.  Hale Nani is the reintegration program for Hawaii Community Correctional Center, and is in Panaewa.  It offers a work release program for inmates who are going to be released on Hawaii Island. The inmates are generally put to work in the community before they are released, in nonprofit or government programs.

Jeffries-Hamar is described at 5’7″ tall, 165 pounds, with short brown hair and blue eyes.

He was arrested in Kailua-Kona in  2007 for burglary and other offenses.
