Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 35-year-old Puna man wanted for driving recklessly and resisting an order to stop on January 12.
Samson Perez of the Ainaloa subdivision is described as part Hawaiian, 6-foot-1, 220 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He has a teardrop tattoo under each eye and was last seen with wavy, shoulder-length hair.
He operates a red-and-white dirt bike type motorcycle.
Last September, police arrested Perez, also known as Samson Kahumoku, for attempted kidnapping and attempted sexual assault after he reportedly confronted a young female child in a restroom at Hilo Union School. After being arrested in that case, he was released after police conferred with County Prosecutors and determined not to proceed due to what the prosecution felt was the best interests of the child.
Police ask that anyone with information on his whereabouts call the Police Departemnt’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona.
