Lanihau Center’s Saturday, July 21st Cruise Night will be celebrating American muscle cars from the 1960s and 70s and will also feature an information table for Neighborhood Place of Kona. The 6-9 p.m. event is presented in the former Bank of Hawaii parking lot facing Palani Road and is free to the public and participants with all makes of cars, trucks and motorcycles.
Factory hot rods from General Motors, Ford and Chrysler Corpoation will be lined up on either side of the LAVA radio DJ tent at the center of the event and will be the lead vehicles in the 7:30 p.m. parade around the shopping center parking lot. Muscle car owners are invited to share the all-free evening with more than fifty other hot rods, sports cars, antiques and imports.
Each month the Lanihau Center merchants invite a different local non-profit charity to meet the public at their Cruise Nights. This Saturday night they will feature Neighborhood Place of Kona, where everyone is focused on the well-being of families and the prevention of child abuse and neglect in the community. They will have more information and staff members at their donation table. They are encouraging donations of school supplies, canned goods and cash for staples to help Kona families this month.
LAVA radio’s Eddie O will be the guest MC for the evening, playing classic rock and roll music and hosting prize giveaways every half hour from 6:30 through 8:30 p.m. Everyone making a donation to Neighborhood Place of Kona will receive giveaway tickets. Prizes from Lanihau Center merchants will be featured.
Additional lighting for the show parking area will be provided by TransmissionTechnology with kokua from Service Rentals of Kona.
