Waimea Community Theatre presents a Reading of “The Good Doctor” Neil Simons’ gentle and hilarious spoof of the writings of Anton Chekhov. There will be three performances—Friday, August 17 at 7:30, and Saturday, August 18 at 3 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church in Waimea, 65-1237 Kawaihae Road (across from Waimea Park).
There are ten vignettes, each with a different cast of readers. The actors will hold their scripts.
The play’s publisher says Simon serves up delightful little comic scenes of life in Russia a la Chekhov as if they were appetizers. Many have an ironic or tragic twist that will catch you in mid-laugh and give you pause to think.
Admission to the readings is by donation at the door, with a minimum of $5 donation suggested.
