Hawaii Police Department reported a small brush fire off Kawaihae Road near the 64 Mile Marker closed one lane of the road Sunday for about an hour. There was smoke and fire, but police did keep one lane open. They asked motorists to use alternate routes if possible starting around 12:30 p.m. They reported the road as fully open at 1:35 p.m. Sunday. They have not yet released any additional information about the fire, nor its cause.
