State Elections Office Spokesman Rex Quidilla confirmed that the State Elections Office team will debrief all the County Clerks in the State regarding last Saturday’s Primary Election on Tuesday, August 14, in Hilo. Quidilla said a debrief after an election is a standard process, to go over what went well and what needs improvement. The County Clerks from Maui, Kaua’i, and O’ahu will be part of the debrief session, as well as Hawaii County Clerk Jamae Kawauchi. Quidilla said many of the O’ahu Elections Office staff members will also take part in the debriefing.
Part of the standard post-election review is a comparison of voter lists with actual voters, to ensure the counts are accurate and everything was documented properly.
Although the State Elections Office is aware that some precincts on Hawaii Island did not open on time, they expect to get a more complete look at election day procedures from Kawauchi on Tuesday, to have time to modify any procedures and help ensure the General Election in November goes smoothly.
The meeting is likely going to be at the State Office Building in Hilo.
