HPD- A Washington man has been arrested for murder in connection with a fatal domestic disturbance at a resort on the Kohala Coast. At 11:18 p.m. Monday (May 23), South Kohala police responded to an emergency call at a resort on North Kaniku Drive. They learned that resort employees had received calls from guests reporting screams coming from a guest room. From Hawaii Police Department: A 61-year-old woman from Oregon died Thursday (May 19) from injuries she received in a motor vehicle/motorcycle crash at the intersection of Route 130 and Ainaloa Boulevard in Pahoa. Responding to a 9:57 p.m. call on Wednesday (May 18), Puna patrol officers determined that a 52-year-old Pahoa man was operating a 1994 Toyota four-door sedan and traveling west on Route 130 when he made a left turn onto Ainaloa Boulevard, failing to yield the right of way, and collided with a 1997 Honda motorcycle traveling east. From Hawaii Police Department: A 45-year-old Kona man died Thursday (March 10) from injuries he sustained in a one vehicle crash on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), south of the 103-mile-marker in South Kona. The victim was identified as Clyde A. Duncan of a Kona address. Possible drowning on Kohala Coast

Hawaii Police Department reports that a 73-year-old man has died after being found unresponsive Monday (February 14) in waters along the Kohala Coast. He has been identified as Graham Beaven of Spokane, Washington. South Kohala patrol officers who responded Monday to an area known as “Turtle Point,” determined that Beaven had been snorkeling and was found face down and unresponsive. An unidentified woman swam out to Beaven, brought him to shore and began CPR until fire rescue units arrived. The Daniel Sayre Memorial Foundation has refurbished a Radon Boat and Trailer for Hawaii County Fire Department’s Kailua-Kona station.  Kumu Ulalia Berman will bless the boat and trailer on Wednesday, February 16 at 10:45 at Kailua Station on Palani Road just above Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway, and the public is invited. From Hawaii Police Department:  Big Island police are investigating a possible drowning in waters off the coast of Ka’ohe, South Kona. Responding to a 10:11 a.m. call on Sunday, January 9, officers learned that a 51-year-old woman, identified as Jodi Kessler of Hartland, Wisconsin, was snorkeling with family members when she became distressed and began to struggle to stay afloat. Family members were able to get her to shore and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
