Third Season Filming Starts for Hawaii Five-O

The filming of Hawaii Five-O’s third season is now underway.    The cast and crew took part in  blessing Monday at Manoa Valley District Park, near the site of their current filming. The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports that Kahu Blaine Kamalani Kia, the show’s cultural advisor, managed the blessing. The show will include the regular characters—second season cliffhangers should be resolved early in the third season—and new characters are being introduced (Christine Lahti, playing Steve McGarrett’s Mom, apparently not dead after all) or given larger roles (McGarrett’s Navy girlfriend). Hawaii Five-0 Renewed For Another Season

CBS announced this week it is bringing the Hawaii-based crime drama, Hawaii Five-O, back for another season.  The show is popular, and Nielsen ratings have put it at the top among adults ages 18 to 49 several times this season.  The show is in its second season, with only a few episodes left to shoot. The show is on hiatus for this week while Scott Caan (Danno) and Daniel Dae Kim (Chin Ho Kelly) are in Los Angeles shooting a crossover episode for NCIS-Los Angeles.  The NCIS-Los Angeles team will be here in Hawaii later…

Hawaii Five-O Star Enters Rehab

Alex O’Loughlin, who plays the key role of Steve McGarrett on the new Hawaii 5-0 show, has entered rehab.  His publicist, Jodi Gottlieb of ID Public Relations, released a statement, saying “Alex is taking a short break from Hawaii 5-0 to receive supervised treatment for prescription pain medication due to a recent shoulder injury.”   CBS Television issued a statement, saying “We respect and support Alex’s decision.  Everyone at CBS Television Studios and Hawaii Five-0 wishes him well and we look forward to his return.”   CBS has not announced whether O’Loughlin and his character…

Hawaiian Airlines to Fly to Big Apple

Hawaiian Airlines announced it will fly between Honolulu and New York City starting in June, 2012.  Hawaiian Airlines’ President and CEO, Mark Dunkerley, said adding New York is an important part of the airline’s growth strategy.   Over the last many years, Hawaiian Airlines has expanded their service to include many West Coast and Asian destinations. Mike McCartney, CEO of the Hawaii Tourism Authority, said the new service will generate an estimated $156 million in visitor spending and $17 million in state tax annually for the state’s tourism economy. Hawaii 5-0 Returns Monday Night

The set-in-Hawaii remake, “Hawaii 5-0,” is set to debut its second season tonight, September 20. CBS has said the first season did well in the ratings.   The second season actually rolled out last week with a gala event that included a sneak preview of tonight’s episode outside at Waikiki, featuring all the cast members and other dignitaries. State Legislature Recognizes Hawaii 5-0

The Hawaii State Legislature on Thursday, March 31 honored the television series Hawaii Five-O for its contributions to increasing awareness of Hawaii as a possible tourist destination.  The show just concluded its first season.
