From Hawaii County Police: Hawai?i Police are investigating a robbery reported early Friday morning (June 1) in Hilo. At about 12:30 a.m., South Hilo Patrol officers responded to a hold-up alarm at a service station on Kekuanaoa Street. A male suspect brandished a gun demanding money from the employee and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of currency. The employee did not sustain any injuries during the ordeal. Hawaii Police Department says  Justin Waiki, wanted for felony abuse,  turned himself in to the Hilo Police Station on Monday, March 26,  and was arrested.   Original report, March 24, From Hawaii Police Department: The police are seeking Justin Waiki for Felony Abuse of a Family or Household Member.  He’s a 27-year-old man, 5 foot 10 inches, 165 pounds, brown eyes, brown hair, and has tattoos. Police ask you to call 9-1-1 if you spot Justin.

A Hilo man previously charged with terroristic threatening at Kamehameha Schools, Kea’au Campus, is facing similar charges for an incident in Hilo Thursday night when he confronted an off duty Hawaii County police officer.   Big Island police charged Jeremy J. Wanted Man Turns Himself in to Police

Shawn Analeaonalani Keolanui of Hilo, turned himself into the Hilo Police Station Tuesday afternoon.  The 48-year-old man said he turned himself in once he learned the police were looking for him. At 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section charged him with intimidating a witness. His bail was set at $10,000. He made his initial court appearance Wednesday afternoon.

Hawaii Police Department reports they have arrested a Hawaiian Beaches man for a rape committed in Pennsylvania.  Detectives of the Hawai’i Police Department Hilo Juvenile Aid Section, acting on information obtained from officials from the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and the Bristol Township Police Department of Pennsylvania, apprehended the 66-year-old man on Tuesday afternoon (August 2, 2011) .   Albert August Zuest was arrested under the strength of an arrest warrant. Police Week is a nationally recognized week of activities in support of police work and in recognition of officers who have died or been disabled in the line of duty. In 1962 President John F. Kennedy proclaimed every May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week it falls in as Police Week. Update: At 4:10 p.m. Wednesday (February 9), Big Island police charged 25-year-old Edward Daog of Hilo, with kidnapping, second-degree terroristic threatening, felony abuse of a family/household member, and attempted first-degree sexual assault. His bail was set at $112,000. He is being held at the Hilo Police Station cellblock pending his initial court appearance. Hawaii Police Update as of Monday, February 7, 4:30 p.m.: Big Island police have charged the 41-year-old Puna man who was the subject of an island-wide manhunt Sunday, February 6. On Monday afternoon,  detectives charged Gregory Santa-Isabel with three counts of violation of an order stemming from the incident Sunday initially reported as a kidnapping. The ensuing investigation revealed that no kidnapping had occurred but that an order for protection had been violated on three accounts. Big Island police have charged a Hilo man and a Pahoa man who were arrested following an incident that took place outside Long’s Drugs on Puainako Street early Wednesday evening (December 1). At 11:30 a.m. Friday (December 3), detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section charged 31-year-old Jonathan Waipa of Hilo with first-degree criminal property damage and third-degree assault. His bail was set at $5,500. Detectives also charged 23-year-old Jude Quirantes of P?hoa with first-degree criminal property damage. His bail was set at $5,000.
