(HPD)Big Island police are investigating a possible drowning at South Point on Tuesday afternoon (December 20). The victim has been identified as 49-year-old Gordon Kimo Lopes of Ocean View. Ka?? patrol officers responded to the reported drowning at 7:15 p.m. A 47-year-old Ocean View man reported that he had been on shore while his friend was scuba diving for fish fronting the lighthouse at South Point. (HPD) Two middle school students have been charged with terroristic threatening in connection with a fake homemade bomb confiscated at Konawaena Middle School on Wednesday (October 26). Kona patrol officers responded to the school Thursday afternoon (October 27) in response to a report that school officials had confiscated a homemade bomb from a student. Police investigation revealed that the device—consisting of an aluminum can with electronic parts and numerous wires—had been confiscated from a 13-year-old boy’s backpack on Wednesday and taken to the vice principal’s office. (HPD) Big Island police have charged a Kealakekua man with eight offenses in connection with three burglaries in West Hawai’i. The most recent burglary, at a business in Kainaliu town, was reported at 2:25 a.m. Sunday (October 23). Police investigation led to the arrests later Sunday of 19-year-old Alexander Watai of Kealakekua, a 17-year-old boy and two 16-year-old boys. Police recovered smoking pipes and clothing valued at $13,620 that had allegedly been taken during the burglary. HPD- Police traffic investigators have identified the 22-year-old Hilo man who died Saturday (May 28) from injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle/moped crash at the intersection of Kino’ole Street and Hualalai Street on May 28. The victim was identified as Theodore V. Braxton of a Hilo address. Braxton was from Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, and a student at the University of Hawai’i at Hilo.

(HPD)-A Kailua-Kona man was arrested Tuesday (May 24) in a drug raid at his home. Area II Vice Section officers executed a narcotics search warrant at the Marlin Road home at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday and recovered 9.5 grams of packaged methamphetamine, cocaine residue, various items of drug paraphernalia and an electric stun gun. Officers also recovered $580 in cash for forfeiture. Two residents of the home, 62-year-old James Santiago and 33-year-old Laurie Anteau were arrested on suspicion of promoting dangerous drugs. HPD- Two Waikoloa women were arrested and charged with drug offenses after one of them was stopped for a defective tail light over the weekend. At 9:30 p.m. Sunday, police made a traffic stop on a 2008 Jeep sports-utility vehicle on Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway near Makala Street in Kailua-Kona. Officers discovered that the driver, 22-year-old Samantha Moore of Waikoloa, was wanted on an arrest warrant for contempt of court. After further investigation, police arrested Moore and her passenger, 31-year-old Gena Arter of Waikoloa, on suspicion of of promotion of a dangerous drug. Vice officers obtained…

HPD- A Washington man has been arrested for murder in connection with a fatal domestic disturbance at a resort on the Kohala Coast. At 11:18 p.m. Monday (May 23), South Kohala police responded to an emergency call at a resort on North Kaniku Drive. They learned that resort employees had received calls from guests reporting screams coming from a guest room. HPD- Big Island police have charged a 20-year-old Pahoa man with four crimes for an incident on a Hele-On bus. On Monday (April 25) around 8 p.m., Puna patrol officers responded to a call aboard a Hele-On bus in the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision. HPD- A 52-year-old Kailua-Kona man has died after being found unresponsive Friday (April 1) in waters off of the Kona Coast. The victim has been identified as George Nalimu. Kona patrol officers who responded learned that the victim’s body had been found floating face down by a dive boat at approximately 10:15 a.m., and approximately 100 yards from the shoreline outside of Pawai Bay fronting Queen Lili‘uokalani Children’s Center. On the morning of March 3, 2011, while working on a tip received from the public, Puna patrol officers arrested 35-year-old Aaron Nobriga who was being sought for several felony offenses and an outstanding warrant of arrest. Nobriga had recently been featured on Hawaii Island’s Most Wanted. The information and tips that were provided were quite instrumental and led to his apprehension. HPD-  Big Island police charged a 40-year-old Waipahu man Tuesday (January 4) with second-degree attempted murder along with other charges stemming from an incident in Puna on Sunday (January 2). Responding to a 7:39 p.m. call Sunday, Puna patrol officers discovered a 19-year-old man with stab wounds to his arm and abdomen at a Plumeria Street address in Mountain View. The suspect was identified as 40-year-old Anthony Kali of Waipahu. Patrol officers arrested him a short time later.
