APEC Kicks Off on Oahu

The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit gets underway this week on Oahu.  Dignitaries and leaders from 21 world economics in the Asia Pacific Region will gather to discuss issues of common interest among the nations.  President Barack Obama is among those who will participate. Events are focused on Waikiki and at Ko Olina Resort.  Traffic and access to areas around Waikiki and the Honolulu Convention Center will be restricted.  Hawaii Island residents who have need to go to Oahu this week should prepare for traffic delays and be prepared that areas around the Hilton Hawaiian…

Honolulu Visitors, Residents Warned of APEC Closures in November

The City and County of Honolulu, military officials, the Secret Service, State Department, and other federal officials have announced security restrictions in connection with the upcoming Asic Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) events next month. Roads and access around meeting areas will be restricted, with only residents and employees allowed into some restricted areas.  The restricted zones are near the Hilton Hawaiian Village, the Hale Koa Hotel, and the Honolulu Convention Center.  Some meetings will also be at the Ko Olina Resort.  Major General Pete Pawling of the Pacific Command said there will also be restricted…
