State Awards $2.5 Million to Protect County Legacy Lands

The State Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Legacy Land Conversation Program has awarded a grant of $1,650,000 to the County of Hawaii to acquire Kaiholena, in North Kohala.  The funds will be used for the county to buy 76.55 acres to protect open space, cultural and archaeological sites, and coastal resources.   DLNR will also give a rant of $975,000 to Maka’i Kamakani ‘O Kohala to purchase 27 acres to preserve cultural sites, recreational areas, and coastal lands in Kohala. County Of Hawai‘i Acquires Pao‘o
