Michael and Marianne Madoff, the parents of the teen Tyler Madoff who was swept away by a wave at Kealakekua Bay on July 4, appear this morning, Wednesday, on the Today Show at 7:39 a.m.   Today is on the local NBC Affiliate, KHNL 8. Hawaii Fire Department personnel have now concluded their search for the body of 15-year-old Tyler Madoff, who was swept into the ocean by waves on July 4.   The search normally would have concluded Saturday, but Madoff’s parents, Michael and Marianne Madoff, asked the Fire Department to continue.   Monday, fire personnel did an aerial search ten miles south of five miles North of where Tyler was swept into the ocean at Ka’awaloa Point at Kealakekua Bay. No Luck in Finding Missing Boy–Parents Share Their Anguish

Hawaii Fire Department personnel continued their search Sunday for Tyler Madoff, 15, who was swept off the rocks at Ka’awaloa Point last Wednesday, July 4.    High waves washed both Madoff and his 15-year-old male companion into Kealakekua Bay around 3:25 p.m.  The other young man was rescued and transported to Kona Community Hospital in critical condition and then airlifted  to Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Hwy 11 in Pahala Open as of 3 p.m. and Fire Threat Is Down

Hawaii Police Department has reopened Highway 11 in Pahala to traffic in both directions as of about 3 p.m. Wednesday. Fire crews remain on the scene at both the mauka fire at Cane Haul Road and at the makai fire below Highway 11, but firefighting efforts appear to have beem successful, in combination with diminished winds and rain last night. The staff at Ka’u Hospital, working with Hilo Medical Center personnel, have prepared Ka’u Hospital for the return of the 15 long-term care patients who call the hospital home. From Hawaii Police Department: A 58-year-old Kailua-Kona man died Thursday (June 14) from injuries he sustained in a single motor vehicle crash on June 11 off Old M?malahoa Highway in Kailua-Kona. He was identified as William Lawrence of a Kailua-Kona address. Responding to an 8:38 p.m. call on June 11, Kona patrol officers determined that the man was working on a 1993 Toyota Tacoma truck when the vehicle began to roll downhill.  In an attempt to stop the truck from rolling, Lawrence may have gone under the vehicle as it picked up speed.  Lawrence was …

A Kona man and woman  have been charged with kidnapping and other offenses stemming from an incident that was discovered during a shoplifting investigation. Shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday (May 22), South Hilo patrol officers responded to a call at a chain store on Mak’?ala Street, where police learned that a 29- year old Kona man and a 21-year-old Kona woman had been detained by store security for shoplifting. From Hawaii Police Department: Big Island police have arrested a Puna man for attempted murder in connection with a shooting that occurred Sunday evening.   The suspect is identified as 72-year-old Joseph Amormino of Hawaiian Beaches.   Hilo Patrol officers responded to a 5:27 p.m. call Sunday of several shots being fired from a residence in Panaewa. Upon arrival officers found the victim, F-55, with gunshot wounds. Investigation reveal that the suspect had shot the victim, and fired at another party within the residence. From Hawaii Police Department: Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in locating a Puna man wanted in connection with a stabbing Friday morning. The incident began with a domestic dispute at a convenience store on Kahakai Boulevard in Hawaiian Beaches between a 31-year-old Hawaiian Beaches woman and a 27-year-old Hawaiian Beaches man. During the argument, the man allegedly threw a beer bottle—which hit a 19-year-old man in a parked van—and then left the area. Hawaii Police Department and Hawaii Fire Department responded Thursday morning just after 10 a.m. to Pohoiki where a man surfing at “Birdshacks” surfing spot fell off his surfboard and did not surface. The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Nathan Keliikuli of Kea?au. Lifeguards and bystanders  witnessed the incident and brought Keliikuli to shore; lifeguards  initiated CPR.   Officers learned that Keliikuli had reportedly fallen and hit his jaw on his surfboard while surfing. Police ID Drowned Opihi Picker

From Hawaii Police Department: A 43-year-old Papaikou man died Saturday (May 5) while reportedly picking opihi alone in Onomea. The victim has been identified as Paul Kaaukai. At 1:52 p.m. Saturday, Hilo patrol officers responded to a report of a body floating in Onomea Bay. When officers arrived, they found Fire Department personnel on shore with the lifeless body. Kaaukai was taken to Hilo Medical Center, where he was officially pronounced dead at 4:30 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday to determine the exact cause of death.

From Hawaii Police Department: A Puna man apparently drowned Sunday morning in waters off Kalapana. The victim was identified as 44-year-old Henry Kaawakoa of Pahoa. Puna Patrol Officers responded to a 10:22 a.m. report of a drowning victim on a boat at sea. According to witnesses, Kaawakoa was diving off the boat when he was seen floating.
