Fairmont Orchid Girlfriend Killer Pleads Guilty

County of Hawaii Prosecuting Attorney Charlene Y. Iboshi announced  Wednesday that Philip Howard Zimmerman entered guilty pleas to the charges of Murder in the Second Degree, Kidnapping, and Criminal Property Damage in the Second Degree before the Honorable Judge R. Ibarra of the Third Circuit Court.   Zimmerman was arrested and charged for those offenses after killing his then-girlfriend Susan Brockert on May 23, 2011 at the Fairmont Orchid.  Ms. Brockert, visiting from Washington on a company trip, was locked in her room where the Defendant murdered her.  Hotel personnel attempted to intervene after hearing…

Zimmerman Ruled Mentally Fit; Trial Set for August

Third Circuit Court Judge Ronald Ibarra has scheduled the murder trial of Philip Howard Zimmerman for August 7 at 9 a.m.   Zimmerman, 46,  is accused of beating his girlfriend to death on May 23, when he and Susan Brockert, 44, were staying at the Fairmont Orchid.   Zimmerman was determined by a psychologist and two psychiatrists to be mentally fit to stand trial.  He and Brockert are from Bellevue, Washington.   The charges against Zimmerman include second-degree murder, kidnapping and second-degree criminal property damage   Zimmerman pleaded not guilty and is being held at Oahu…

Accused Murderer to Stand Trial, Held with No Bail

Philip Howard Zimmerman, 46,  has now been formally charged with murder in the death of his girlfriend, Susan Brockert, 44, at the Fairmont Orchid last month.   Zimmerman appeared Tuesday before District Court Judge Mel Fujino.  Fujino heard testimony from six witnesses and ruled the state had established probable cause to proceed with three of four charges.  Zimmerman faces one count each of second-degree murder, kidnapping, and second-degree criminal property damage.  Fujino ruled the state had not established probable cause for first -degree terroristic threatening. Autopsy Completed on Murder Victim

An autopsy conducted Friday morning (May 27) on the body of Susan Brockert of Bellevue, Washington, determined that she died from multiple blunt force and sharp force trauma to the head and neck.   Brockert’s companion, Philip Howard Zimmerman is in police custody facing multiple charges, including murder.   Hotel employees witnessed Zimmerman beating Brockert with a granite object in her hotel room at the Fairmot Orchid Monday night, May 23.  Brocker’s first court appearance was Thursday.  He’s being held in lieu of $320,000 bail, with another court appearance scheduled for next week.

Philip Howard Zimmerman made an initial court appearance in Kona Thursday. The 46 year-old from Bellevue, Wash., is charged with second-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend, Susan Brockert, 44, also of Bellevue. Court documents released by the Hawaii County prosecutor’s office paint a picture of a relationship marked by violence and threats. Pahala, HI – The volunteer planning committee of the Ka’u Family Fun Fest is asking for community support to help meet their fundraising goal of $50,000 by June 11, 2011. Washington Man Arrested for Resort Murder

HPD- A Washington man has been arrested for murder in connection with a fatal domestic disturbance at a resort on the Kohala Coast. At 11:18 p.m. Monday (May 23), South Kohala police responded to an emergency call at a resort on North Kaniku Drive. They learned that resort employees had received calls from guests reporting screams coming from a guest room.
