Health NewsAlaska Airlines is expanding its flights between Oakland, California, and San Jose, California, and Kona. Starting Monday, March 12, it will offer daily flights from Kona to both Oakland and San Jose. Up until now there have been three flights a week between Oakland and Kona, and four flights a week between San Jose and Kona.
The top three World Golf Amateurs highlight this year’s field at the 22nd Annual Amer Ari at the Waikoloa Beach Resort, through Friday, February 3, on the Waikoloa Kings’ Course. Kona resident and Stand Up Paddling Ambassador for The Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows, Jenny Kalmbach, took out the title of “Female Paddler of the Year” at the 2011 Stand Up Paddling (SUP) Awards in San Clemente California Thursday night, September 22. Kalmbach was born and raised in San Jose, Costa Rica. After graduating from University of British Columbia in 2005, she moved to Hawaii. She got a job at the Kukio Golf and Beach Club. Hawaiian Airlines will no longer award a minimum of 500 miles for short flights, the airline said in an e-mail to HawaiianMiles members Friday. The removal of the minimum earning for short flights will apply to reservations booked after September 1. HawaiianMiles members currently earn the actual mileage of a flight–with a minimum of 500 miles if their flights are shorter than that length.
