The Daniel R. Sayre Foundation is taking its fundraiser online. This year, instead of its gala dinner and silent auction, the community is asked to support the Hawaii County Fire Department by visiting the foundation’s website and bidding on a variety of items.   The online auction is today,  Saturday, September 8, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time at www.DanielSayreFoundation.com.   In addition to the auction, supporters can go online and pledge financial support for the purchase of equipment and training items needed by the island’s fire and rescue personnel.   And you…

Sayre Foundation to Present Gifts Saturday Morning-Public Invited

The public is invited to Kahalu’u Beach this morning, Saturday January 28.  At 8:30 a.m., Laura Mallery Sayre and Frank Sayre, D. D. S.,  representing the Daniel Sayre Foundation, will present a number of items to the Hawaii Fire Department and their lifeguards. The Sayre Foundation annually raises funds to help provide Hawaii County fire and rescue teams with equipment above and beyond that which is available to them through the County budget.  While the administration acknowledges these are important items for the teams to have, the County budget can only go so far.  This…

Laura Mallery Sayre and Frank Sayre, D. D. S.,  representing the Daniel Sayre Foundation, will present a number of items to the Hawaii Fire Department and their lifeguards  on Saturday, January 28 at Kahalu’u Beach Park at 8:30 a.m.   The Sayres started The Daniel Sayre Foundation after their son died in a climbing accident in Waipio Valley in 1997.  They were so moved by the bravery of the fire personnel they decided to memorialize Danny and honor county rescue teams through the Foundation.  They also raise funds to purchase equipment above and beyond that…

Sayre Foundation to Honor Fire and Rescue Personnel

The 14th Annual Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation Anniversary Benefit Awards Dinner/Silent Auction will be held this year on Saturday, September 3, at The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii, at Mauna Lani Resort. The event raises funds to assist in the purchase of much needed rescue emergency equipment and training for the Hawaii County Fire Department and honors exceptional Hawaii County Fire Department personnel for meritorious service above and beyond the call of duty. Boat/Trailer Blessing Wednesday at Kailua Fire Station

The Daniel Sayre Memorial Foundation has refurbished a Radon Boat and Trailer for Hawaii County Fire Department’s Kailua-Kona station.  Kumu Ulalia Berman will bless the boat and trailer on Wednesday, February 16 at 10:45 at Kailua Station on Palani Road just above Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway, and the public is invited. The Sayre Foundation is a project of Frank Sayre and Laura Mallery Sayre.  Their 25-year-old son Danny was killed in a fall at Polulu Valley in 1997.   Frank and Laura were moved by the heroism of the fire/rescue teams that first tried to rescue Danny,…
