Wang Addresses Need for Brain Injury Rehab Facility

Dr. Theresa Wang, who was critically injured in a two-vehicle car crash last November,  returned home to Kona Saturday.  The accident got more attention than usual because former University of Hawaii Quarterback Colt Brennan was involved.  Brennan’s girlfriend, Shakti Stream, was driving an SUV northbound on Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway near Makalawena , with Brennan as a passenger, when she crossed the center line and smashed into Wang’s vehicle.  Brennan was seriously injured.   Wang suffered traumatic injuries to her spinal cord and brain.  She had 22 separate fractures to her neck, ribs and all 4 extremities,…

Colt Brennan Wants to Resume NFL Career

Former University of Hawaii Quarterback Colt Brennan is in Honolulu this weekend at a football camp for young people at Aloha Stadium and a barefoot football game.    In talking with local television stations, Brennan said he’s still recovering from an automobile accident last November 19 on Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway near Makalawena.   His girlfriend, Shakti Stream, was driving her SUV and crossed the center line, smashing into a vehicle driven by Waikoloa physician Dr. Theresa Wang. November 19th North Kona Crash Investigation Completed

Big Island police have completed their investigation into a November 19 two-vehicle crash on Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway in North Kona near Makalawena that seriously injured three motorists, including former University of Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan. As is standard in serious motor vehicle crashes of this nature, the investigation has been forwarded to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for determination if any charges are warranted. Stream/Brennan Accident Victim Update

Waikoloa physician Theresa Wang, who was severely injured in an automobile accident 8 weeks ago, can talk again.  Her husband, David Chen, posted an update on his blog about Theresa.  He said doctors at Denver’s Craig Hospital, where Theresa is now a patient, have given Wang a smaller breathing tube and  provided respiratory therapy to enable Theresa to say a few words.  However, the brain injuries she received in the accident are causing confusion, amnesia, and emotional instability.  What she says can range from that of a competent physician to garbled, confused wanderings. Lawsuit Filed in Stream-Brennan-Wang Accident

Attorney Ian Mattoch has filed a civil lawsuit on behalf of 47-year-old Theresa Wang of Waikoloa, who was injured in a November 19, two-car accident on Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway.   Wang was driving her SUV southbound on Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway south of Waikoloa when her car was struck head on by an SUV driven by 27-year-old Shakti Stream of Kailua-Kona. The lawsuit against Stream seeks special and general damages for the costs and interest accrued since the accident, plus court fees, attorney costs, and other expenses.   Wednesday, Wang was transferred from The Queen’s Medical Center on…

North Kona Crash

Three West Hawaii motorists were seriously injured today (Friday, November 19, 2010) in a two-vehicle crash on the Queen Kaahumanu Highway in the area of Makalawena near the 90-mile marker in North Kona.  Responding to a 9:36 am call, Hawaii Police Department officers determined that Shakti Stream, a 27-year-old Kona woman was driving north in a 1997 Toyota SUV when she crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 1996 Saab sedan that was headed south.  Stream and her passenger, Colton J.
