The State Department of Education has  allocated funding for improvements at two Hawaii Island schools, Ha’aheo Elementary in North Hilo and Kalaniana’ole Elementary and Intermediate Schools, and Governor Neil Abercrombie has released the funds–$467,000.

The projects include road upgrades at Haaheo Elementary and a new roof for one of Kalanianaole Elementary and Intermediate’s buildings.

State Senator Malama Solomon (D-Waimea, Hamakua, Hilo) said she was pleased the Governor had released funding and commented on how important it is to invest in school infrastructure.

The construction start date has not yet been announced.
