An unattended candle burning in a bedroom caused a fire that has destroyed a family’s home.

The fire was in a post and pier home at the corner of 7th and Pearl Streets in Mauna Loa Estates in Volcano.  The fire call came in at 11:09 p.m. Saturday evening, and when  full-time and volunteer firefighters arrived on the scene ,the home was fully involved, with flames shooting out from the windows and doors of the house.
