Howard Dicus of Hawaii News Now and Hawaii Public Radio reports hotels on Oahu are already getting a bump in occupancy from the upcoming Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit. Oahu occupancy is up to 85%, from 80% the week before. Hawaii Island hotel occupancy is lagging at 57%, up only a percentage point from the week before. Maui hotels are at 70% occupancy with Kaua’i at 69%. Dicus says neighbor island hotels won’t benefit directly from APEC events, but some attendees will take tours, and some have booked vacations for before or after the summit, which comes up November 7 through 13.
