Winter Storm Hits Hawaii Island

The entire state has had heavy rains, high winds, lightning, and thunder over the last 24 hours.  Here on Hawaii Island, residents with a view of the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa are waking to their second day of snow on the summits.   It is unusual to see snow on the mountains this late in the year…but not unheard of!

If you cannot see the snow in person, you may go to the observatory web cams for a great view:
